May Conference Pre-Blog

Storytelling is an important part of Scouting culture. So important, that we’ve decided to make it the theme for this month’s conference!

For this month’s activity, your patrol will be responsible for retelling a story through GIFs like these:

You will also be presenting your story via GIFs to the rest of the crew 😊

To help you get a better understanding of how to tell a story, we’ve provided some tips to enhance your storytelling skills:

6 Rules of Storytelling (inspired by Pixar’s 22 Rules of Storytelling)

1) Good stories are universal

2) Every great story has a clear structure and purpose

3) People want to root for you, and they LOVE a good underdog.

4) Good stories appeal to our deepest emotions – all good stories relate to some core truth in humans (the power of story).

5) Good stories are surprising and unexpected – they don’t follow the norm

6) All good stories are simple and focused.
