The mission of Scouting is to provide “young people with opportunities to participate in programs, events, activities, and projects that contribute to their growth as active citizens. Through these initiatives, young people become agents of positive change who inspire others to take action.” – WOSM.
To align ourselves with the World Organization of Scout Movement mission, our Rovers work on developing the skills that we believe are important for the leaders of today and tomorrow. We develop ourselves by setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, holding each other accountable, and working in teams. We believe that the best way to become inspirers and true agents of positive change is to look at what the world needs, and to work on ourselves so we can lead the change that we want to see.
For the past few years, we have been driven and motivated by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, set out by the U.N. Many of our newer projects directly support SDG as we feel that it aligns with our values and Scouting principles.
The Rover Program is an eight-year program (18 to 26) that is dedicated to helping young adults navigate the rapids of their 20’s and build a stronger foundation for the rest of their adulthood. During this time, among many things, we could be starting or finishing post-secondary, applying to graduate school, applying to our first “real” job, or preparing for a promotion. Whether our members are hitting a milestone, or still working towards it, we are committed to supporting and helping each other succeed.
Our members play 4 important roles
Each member acts as a supporter, motivator, resource, and coach through engaging discussions around career and personal development that tailors to the Rover’s personal, professional and Scouting life.
