Rover Joe Likes Their Joe: Best Cafes in Vancouver

Looking for places to study or host a meeting? We’re all over Greater Vancouver – and with some of us being self-proclaimed foodies, we’ve got a few cafes faves we’d like to share with you:

Matchstick

You’ll notice a theme throughout this blog: all the cafes have delicious and unique coffee blends, a friendly staff, a wonderful aroma of baked goods, and enough space to let your creativity fly. Matchstick’s familiar, homely vibe is no accident. From decorations to baking and brewing philosophy, the staff has devoted themselves to building this common place worthy of your attention. This cafe has clever use of their space, and you’ll almost always find a seat for you and a friend.

JJ Bean Coffee Roasters

The Neate Family has been roasting in Vancouver for four generations, so is it really a surprise that JJ Bean has such a strong, positive local presence? Not only is their menu good, but their cafe has sizeable tables, enough for a group of 6-8 friends to dive deep into conversation. This place is especially nice in the winter. Their fireplace is roasty, comforting, and big enough to share the flame with everyone.

Prado Cafe

If you’re an up-and-coming coffee snob, let us introduce you to Prado Cafe. For some of us, we love a good cup of joe before we have to get serious. The owner, Sammy Piccolo, is a four-time Canadian Barista Champion, winning multiple competitions for latte art and craft. It might be safe to say Prado would know what they’re doing with your cup of coffee.

In addition to their drink menu, they also have great playlists. If your brainwaves move to soundwaves, check this place out.

Platform 7

Platform 7 is a neighbourhood favourite. Their cafes in East Vancouver and Kitsilano are inspired by train stations. When you sit down, you can’t help but feel a sense of curiosity and exploration while slowly sipping your perfectly brewed macchiato. It’s like you’re excited to move on and tackle your day, but you’re also perfectly content with exactly where you are. If the cafe’s full, no worries! They also have a cute backyard garden with benches and tables.

Elysian Coffee Roasters

Speaking of gardens, Elysian also has an awesome space for you to sit down and enjoy the company. Another perk is that all 4 of their locations in Vancouver are relatively close to Transit. If you’re someone without a car and is itching for a hipster place to work, this might be the cafe for you.
