A journey of a thousand miles beings with a single step. Our PERSIST award winner for the month of January took her first steps to immerse herself in Scouting, and made quite a splash, bravely diving into everything our crew had to offer.
This award is not presented on a monthly basis. The rover must show an understanding of our culture and demonstrate that he or she consistently lives our Rover Crew values. This month’s winner, Linda Koch, did exactly that.
Having joined the 180th Pacific Coast Scout Group only seven months ago, Linda has impressed us by stepping out of her comfort zone and challenging herself to try new experiences. Her bright smile, caring personality and empathic nature have helped her make many friends in our Rover Crew.
Linda wasted no time in getting engaged in our crew. In the short time that she has been with us, Linda has already been involved in many projects, including playing a lead role in our September Journey Gala dinner. Linda is also a core member of our Integrated Outdoor Department. Despite encountering some tough personal times, she selflessly offered to help facilitate our project management training workshop. Within a short seven months of joining us, Linda has demonstrated that she is hardworking, dependable, humble, courageous, and an excellent team player.
