It is with great pleasure for us to announce that Brian Cheng, a founding member of our 180th Pacific Coast Scout Group, has been appointed by Scouts Canada’s national governing body as Deputy National Commissioner – Child and Youth Safety. Below is Brian’s biography.
Since joining the Scouting Movement as a youth member, Brian Cheng has served Scouts Canada as a Deputy Area Commissioner, Deputy Council Commissioner, and Group Commissioner. Within Pacific Coast Council, he co-founded three new Scout Groups and is currently a Venturer and Rover Advisor at the 99th St. Francis Xavier Catholic Scout Group in Vancouver, B.C., where his Scouting adventure began.Outside of Scouting, Brian is a lawyer whose practice focuses on business relationships, commercial transactions, and landlord-tenant disputes. Additionally, he will be pursuing his Master of Laws degree at the University of British Columbia this May. When he is not at a Scout meeting or in court, Brian enjoys hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, and biking.Brian looks forward to applying his Scouting experience and professional background in his new role.
