All Good Things Don't Come to an End — They Continue

By: Shirvin Lee

Two weekends ago, members of the 180th Pacific Coast Scout Group and guests joined the International Service Project (iProj) contingent to celebrate their achievements during the two week service project in China. The contingent spent many months of dedication and diligently prepared for this trip. iProj is highly valued within the Crew as it is a way for us to give back to our global community.

After their return, a wrap-up event was held in order to allow the contingent to share their experiences and to celebrate the success of their journey. The event emphasized the importance of having fun and celebrating the members of the contingent’s experiences. To go along with the theme, the awards part of the event revolved around the story of Marco Polo’s diary, in which he wrote about various people and occurrences he experienced during his trip to China in the 1300’s.

Subsequently, each member of the contingent was awarded in recognition of their personal accomplishments during iProj and was asked to give a 2 minute speech about their experience during the trip. In addition to telling funny and interesting stories during their speech, many of the award recipients reflected on how they learned to be better project managers and how their language skills improved.

Adrian Lee being recognized for his unbelievable talents in finding and trying some of the best foods in China.

With laughter and smiles along the way, the night ended with songs from our talented singers Darren, Stephanie, and Clarice, who unified the audience in awe, admiration and a sing-along.

Although I was unable to attend the International Project to China this year, the wrap-up event definitely highlighted and shared experiences and stories that inspire me to attend the next trip!
