On January 9th, the 180th Pacific Coast Scout Group had the pleasure of listening to Dr.Kenneth Chow, an invigorating guest speaker. He is an accomplished leader in the field of dentistry and maxillofacial surgery. He is also a volunteer basketball coach, a professor at University of British Columbia, a regular at the Vancouver General Hospital, and a member of many boards and committees, including the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.
He presented on not only his work but also his morals, ethics and beliefs, leaving a lasting impression on the Rovers.
Dr. Kenneth Chow’s down to earth attitude and beliefs reverberated throughout his presentation. His personal focus is not only on his work, but also on how much he gives back to society. The presentation took the Rover Scout Group through a journey that each member personally connected to. He credits turning his failures and disappointments into learning opportunities and views them as an aid to becoming a better person. Dr. Kenneth Chow stressed humbleness, a willingness to learn and a willingness to better himself as the key motivators behind his success. Thanks to his presentation, the Crew was able to understand that disappointments and failure do not mean the end but a new beginning; tools for a brighter future!
Thank you Dr. Kenneth Chow for your time, story and life lessons!
