Local Community Service

“To help other people at all times” is in our Scout Promise, and we uphold this promise by living and breathing it in our day-to-day, and in our projects.

A few examples of service projects we had organized during the pandemic include:

  • Growing and donating produce from our community garden to local charities and foodbanks
  • Donating blood
  • Running weekly virtual programs for local scout groups
  • Hosting a virtual wellness week with yoga, paint night, origami class, dance class, meditation, and journaling
  • Hosting workshops on email etiquette and personality tendancies – as classes and meetings became virtual for many students and working young adults in the Crew
  • Hosting a podcast for our members to stay in touch

Scout Promise:

On my honour;
I promise that I will do my best;
To do my duty to God and the Queen;
To help other people at all times;
and to carry out the spirit of the Scout Law.

Scout Law:

A Scout is helpful and trustworthy,
Kind and cheerful,
Considerate and clean,
and wise in the use of all resources.

Past Community Projects

East Side Eats

East Side Eats is a very important project to us because it shows people living in the area that we are looking out for them. Our contribution, though small, was much appreciated by the members of the community, who expressed their gratitude and rooted us on. To learn more…

Other Half Stem Cell Drives

Other Half is dedicated to closing the gap of Chinese under-representation in the global stem cell donor registry by educating the Chinese, and everyone on stem cell donation. To learn more…

Gift of Love

Sponsored by TD Bank, we were able to prepare 25 Christmas presents for the members of the Rice Block Support Recovery House.

Shoreline Cleanup

Shoreline Cleanup is an important service project that we value because of the significance we place in taking care of our environment. This project allowed us to apply the Scouting principle of “Leave No Trace” which enforces the idea of leaving a place better than how we first found it.
