Mexico – 2014

On May 3, 2014, a contingent of 22 Rovers and Advisors from the 180th Pacific Coast Scout Group will be heading to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for our fourth International Service Project (something we affectionately call “iProj” within our Group). Even though our Group’s International Service Project is in its fourth incarnation, what makes this trip even more special is the fact that this is the first joint project with the 1st Rivorton Rover Crew from Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Our contingent will be achieving several initiatives while we are in Puerto Vallarta – chief of which is the renovation of an elementary school for underprivileged children that is in need of upgrades to several of its facilities. Additionally, our contingent will also be focusing a majority of our efforts in assisting Puerto Vallarta scouts in the construction of their new meeting hall and campground project.

Being able to go on a service project trip is always a unique opportunity because it gives our Crew members the opportunities, such as meeting members from other youth organizations, performing cultural exchange, and leaving a meaningful impact towards a good cause.

We are currently working with Debbie Sui of VIP Travel in New Westminster, B.C. to arrange all of the accommodations and travel within Puerto Vallarta.  Debbie has gone above and beyond to make sure that the contingent is well looked after while in Mexico.
