Creating a Ripple Effect | An Update on our Volcanes Service Project

By: Edna Cheng

Although it has been a month since our recent International Service Project (iProj) in Mexico, it is wonderful to know that we are still bringing an impact to the organizations we have helped.

Recently, we have received an email from Jamie and Megan, whom are the teachers that help the children at Volcanes Elementary. They decided to hold a draw to give away the 30 backpacks of school supplies and also a school supplies prize bag for each student. As they mentioned in their update email to us, “We hope to be able to capture their joy with pictures to share, though they won´t do justice showing their excitement over receiving their own school supplies.  Because of the scout´s kindness, we were able to weed out the heavily used ítems and have our inventory stocked for next school year.”

We are really thankful for Jamie and Megan’s email. It is definitely rewarding to know that every donation is put into good use in the upcoming school year and what difference it makes to the children’s learning!

Another exciting news is that the kitchen and the storage room that we have built the foundation for are in its final stage of construction. The workers and the mothers from the Volcanes community are working earnestly to complete the project. Take a look at the progress photos of the kitchen and storage room that they have sent us!

Once again, on behalf of the iProj contingent, I will like to thank all the donors who have contributed the school supplies project and Volcanes Elementary for giving us the opportunity.

What a joy to see how the efforts of the iProj team and the crew have put a smile on the faces of Volcanes school children. God bless you. 🙂
