What you see before you is the “Cocina”; the Kitchen. When completed, this kitchen will allow the Volcanes Elementary School to provide simple breakfasts and lunches to their students.
Over the three days of service there, we moved bricks, poured cement, dug the trench, filled the foundation, and began the walls. From the beginning of planning this project, we knew we didn’t have enough time to complete the addition to the school. We still knew it was the right choice because this was the top priority for the local foundation we worked with. The impact of proper nutrition is a well documented factor in quality education. It is hard to concentrate when your belly rumbles on empty.
From where you see it now, a local construction team in Puerto Vallarta will finish the work.

Bravo for your determination in kick-starting the construction of the kitchen at Volcanes Primary School! Can’t wait to see the picture of the kitchen once it is fully-built by the constructors in Mexico.
