Growing the Scout Movement
Since our inception 9 years ago, we have created a leadership and management training program for young adults of ages 18-26. As Rover Scouts of Scouts Canada, we plan projects that help the community and grow the Scout Movement. We strive to challenge ourselves every day to step out of our comfort zones. We are also supported by a group of talented and dedicated Scouters who offer us resources, guidance, and support. If you are motivated, we have an array of people to support you to become the best version of yourself.
The real way to get happiness
is by giving out happiness to other people. Try and leave this world a little better than you found it and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate, you have not wasted your time but have done your best. ‘Be Prepared’ in this way, to live happy and to die happy – stick to your Scout promise always – even after you have ceased.
– Sir Robert Baden Powell, Founder of the Scout Movement
This Scout Group belongs to the Rover Scouts, which means that Rovers are the ones leading and transforming our Rover Crew. With this mindset, Rovers can advance their leadership skills by doing the things that they are interested in.
Our motto as Rovers Scouts is service. We believe that helping others is a part of our experiential learning. Through community service projects, we learn more about ourselves and our city, and thus retain a deeper insight on what we can do to help.
Our Rover Crew operates 3 other Scout Groups that provide quality programs within the Lower Mainland for youth members ages 5-18 years old. Many of our Rovers are certified Scouters for these groups. Being a Scouter allows them to exercise their leadership skills and allows our youth members to see what being a part of the Movement means.
The Rover Crew is a safe environment that is supportive and welcoming. It is where Rover Scouts feel free to pursue their interests and challenge one another to reach their goals. With this being a core part of our Crew culture, we constantly see Rovers creating lifelong friendships.
To rejuvenate the Scouting spirit, Rover Scouts embark on fun and exciting activities such as hikes, indoor and outdoor climbs, camping trips, and during our international Service Projects, backpacking trips! Through these, Rovers get the chance to explore new places, new skills and ideas, and discover more about themselves.
